SECRET NIGHT GANG SUN

Plucked from Manchester's vibrant music scene, Giles Peterson has signed a new group, Secret Night Gang, to his record label, Brownswood Recordings. The group was founded by singer/song-writer Kemani Anderson, multi-instrumentalist and song-writer Callum Connell and Manchester music scene stalwart Stuart Whitehead. Their debut release 'Sun' is a bold seven and a half minutes long; it's a progressive, spiritual journey. Combining 70's soul sounds with explorative jazz vocal melodies, we're instantly reminded of Rotary Connection's banger 'I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun'. Kemani's vocals bloom into a free and emotive expression on the chorus, exclaiming 'I ask the sun to stay'. 'The Sun' was inspired by a poem written by Callum Connell at the top of Greenwich Park viewpoint looking over the infamous London cityscape as the sun set. Kemani coins this sound as 'spiritual and healing' whilst Callum shares 'The Sun' is a powerful and uplifting song that can take you on a spiritual journey but also make you reflect on everyday life.'. Check out 'The Sun' here, and let's hope that it beckons the warmth that we're all craving. -Ellie Rose-Davies
